This data can be extremely valuable and provide stakeholders with data which otherwise would be impractical to obtain. Our data systems provide curricular areas in need of improvement, which components of writing are most often used or under-utilized, reading level, year-over-year comparisons of student performance, and in-depth data to inform future academic decisions.
CURRENT PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET
Gradescope
Gradescope bills itself as a service that streamlines the tedious parts of grading papers for all subjects in K-12 education. What it doesn't tell users is that they must scan and upload every paper that is submitted to them. The above video is a tutorial offered by Gradescope that outlines how to scan student papers, assign them to student names, and how to process the grade. A tedious task indeed!

Progressay
Progressay has recently become our most contentious competitor in this space. Progressay offers similar products and markets itself as a software that utilizes AI and Machine Learning to mark teachers papers. With Progressay, you must create and insert your own rubrics, or you can choose from a template rubric that may or may not reflect your curriculum goals. Moreover, the mechanics that govern these rubric weighting systems are questionable and difficult to use for teachers. Paradoxically, Progressay houses a Job Marketplace where certified teachers can apply for certain grading jobs posted by students. This service is based in the UK, as the currency of choice is British pounds.
